Help our Community Garden grow!

October 31 2015

Wallington’s Landscape Supplies team have recently begun work with the SpringDale Community Garden to help raise funds for landscaping supplies needed to complete the garden and get it growing!

Our inaugural project is to encourage donations from our customers to raise money to purchase sleepers for raised garden beds and edging for pathways. For every $1 raised in store, Wallington’s will contribute 25c of product to this project. If we can raise $1,000 the SpringDale Community Garden will be well on its way to producing a bountiful harvest of vegetables this summer.

Situated at 225-270 Jetty Road, Curlewis behind the Drysdale Community Church, the SpringDale Community Garden draws membership from across the North Bellarine Community. New members and volunteers are always welcome. The project has been made possible by the generous donation of land by the Drysdale Community Church, water tanks and tool shed from both Rotary and the Lions Clubs, support from the SpringDale Neighbourhood house, hours of manual labour from dedicated volunteers and financial support from a number of kindly supporters.

As well as providing a social hub for avid gardeners, a significant proportion of the produce grown in the Community Garden will be donated to the Drysdale Family Support Inc. for distribution to disadvantaged families in the area.

This is a truly wonderful community initiative, driven by a group of dedicated volunteers. Find out more information from their Facebook page “Springdale Community Garden Project.”

Look out for the donation tins on our sales counters. If every customer donated just $1, we’d have the money in no time!
